Destination Spotlight: Cedar Springs, Michigan
Just north of Grand Rapids, Cedar Springs has been calling itself Michigan's Red Flannel Town since 1936, and it has the community character to back it up. The town has unique visitor experiences, such as Michigan's only drive-through safari at Deer Tracks Junction and connects to a 92-mile trail. Cedar Springs also has a Bavarian brewpub and a neighborhood theater more than 120 years old that gives you more reasons to enjoy the rest of the evening after dinner.

Employee Spotlight: Brenda Cheney, Vice President of Business
Meet One of The Leaders Helping Drive Indian Trails Forward
Some careers follow a straight line. Brenda Cheney's took a few turns, and every one led her closer to the work she loves. She started out in accounting before moving in to bus transportation in 1991, running terminal operations in Bay City and later Battle Creek as her own boss. In 2007, Indian Trails came calling with an offer to become interline director, and Brenda traded self-employment for a new challenge.
"I had been my own boss for so long as an independent contractor," she says. "It was a big step to move into a corporate structure. But I also love a challenge."
She's spent the years since making travel easier for the people who ride with us. Brenda helped lead the move into new technology, improving communications and ticketing systems and helping make Indian Trails one of the first carriers to offer paperless tickets. "We went from pen and paper and doing everything by hand to embracing new technologies," she says. In 2022, 15 years after joining the company, she was promoted to vice president of business, where she now oversees administration, finances, contracts and marketing.
"I'm very passionate about intercity bus transportation. It's just something that gets into your blood. It's a driving force for me."
That passion shows up beyond the office, too. Brenda serves on the executive board of the National Bus Traffic Association, where she's also been a board chair. And when she's not focused on the road ahead for Indian Trails, she's a black belt in taekwondo who has taught martial arts to at-risk students with special needs, a former American Sign Language interpreter and a summa cum laude graduate of Baker College. A lifelong nature lover, she escapes to camp, hike and kayak whenever she can, and every night she's welcomed home by her two rescue dachshunds, Peanut and Butter.
We're grateful to have Brenda helping lead the way.
