The air is crisp, the lights are twinkling and Michigan's holiday markets are calling your name. If you're still hunting for that perfect handmade gift or wish to soak up the seasonal spirit, then these festive destinations need to be experienced.
Step into West Michigan's largest European Christmas village, located in the heart of Grand Rapids. With more than 60 artisan vendors, warm up in the Bavarian-style beverage hall with mulled wine, hot chocolate or Christmas beer. Reserve a heated Alpen globe for panoramic views, enjoy the rooftop Bubbles Bar or try outdoor curling. Live entertainment, visits from the Christkindl angel and s'mores around fire pits make every visit magical.
Detroit transforms into a curated collection of local vendors offering apparel, handmade accessories and heartwarming home goods. Shop Detroit small businesses in charming market huts, then warm up at the nearby Cadillac Lodge with walking tacos, Detroit-style chili, cider and hot cocoa. Then, escape the hustle and bustle of the vendor alleys by retreating to a nearby heated tent to listen to live music or catch a classic holiday film.
Ann Arbor's Kerrytown District comes alive with artisan vendors, traditional food and hot mulled wine. Part of the citywide Midnight Madness celebration, KindleFest features kids' activities with Santa, live holiday music and local favorites like Zingerman's Deli. Sip German Glühwein while browsing handcrafted treasures as Kerrytown's shops and restaurants stay open late for a neighborhood-wide celebration.
There's still time to experience the magic before the holidays end. Which market will you visit first?

Employee Spotlight: Jennifer Freeman, Indian Trails' HR Generalist
Jennifer Freeman had worked in Indian Trails' charter sales, tour, and interline departments before leaving to earn her business degree and pursue other opportunities. After years of working in hospice and long-term care, a chance conversation brought her back. A former colleague stopped by her office one day and mentioned the company was hiring. Remembering how she had always loved the family atmosphere, she didn't hesitate to apply.
Now serving as HR generalist, Jennifer handles talent acquisition across the company and makes sure drivers meet all licensing requirements. Her office is at the main garage in Owosso, where she gets to interact daily with the drivers and crew that keep the buses running. What she loves most is the camaraderie and the understanding that family comes first. "This company always tries to do the right thing," she says.
Outside of work, Jennifer and her husband, Jason are CrossFit enthusiasts and avid hikers, and she periodically goes on rucking trips with three friends she's known since childhood. Additionally, the couple regularly takes cruises to Mexico and the Bahamas, and always starts these journeys with a Michigan Flyer ride to Detroit Metro Airport.
