Destination Spotlight: Ann Arbor
Looking for your next Michigan getaway? Ann Arbor — affectionately known as Tree Town — delivers a little something for everyone. From the museums and performance venues of the University of Michigan campus to the cobblestone charm of the Kerrytown District, this leafy college town has depth that surprises first-time visitors and keeps regulars coming back.
Outdoor lovers will find their place at Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum, where trails wind along the Huron River and the scenery changes beautifully with the season. Art, food, live music and one of the nation’s largest juried art fairs round out a city that earns its reputation.
Ask Aaron Getter-Dennis what makes driving for Indian Trails different, and he doesn't hesitate. "This is the first job I've had where I absolutely love what I do." A Charlotte, Mich., native who returned home to Michigan with his husband, Joshua, Aaron came to Indian Trails with a varied career behind him — but nothing that had put him behind the wheel of a motorcoach. He embraced the challenge anyway, moving through the company's weeks-long paid training program under Safety Director Raymond Ruddy, and quickly earning a reputation as a natural behind the wheel.
Now approaching his first full year with Indian Trails and its subsidiary Michigan Flyer, Aaron runs regular routes from the Detroit area to St. Ignace, group charter trips, and Michigan Flyer routes connecting East Lansing, Whitmore Lake, Ann Arbor and Detroit Metro Airport. The variety suits him. A self-described people person, Aaron brings the same energy to every shift — keeping his eyes on the big picture on the road and making sure every passenger feels safe and comfortable along the way. "Life is too short," he says. "I treat people equally. You have to give respect to get respect."
