Oh The Places You'll Go

“You have brains in your head. / You have feet in your shoes. / You can steer yourself / any direction you choose. / You're on your own. And you know what you know. / And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.” - Dr. Seuss

When we were young, reading a Dr. Seuss book was a voyage into silliness and sassiness that left us with a smile and a message to take to heart. Decades later, many of us can still recite our favorites from memory. But the takeaway from Dr. Seuss is that life happens, and you better get on board if you want to make the most of yours. He told us it was best to be who we really are, follow a path that makes us happy, and try to always be a good person.

If you appreciate the wisdom of Dr. Seuss and you’re looking for a career change but are unsure what to do or when, consider what Dr. Seuss has to say about going for it in his beloved book, “Oh! The Places You’ll Go.” It’s especially meaningful if you’re looking for a job that takes you on the road.

Do you feel like others — but not you — are in control of your career? It’s time to believe in yourself and take control of your own tomorrows.

You have brains in your head.

You have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself

any direction you choose.

You know you have what it takes to learn a new career; you’re smart, a quick study, and you have faith in your abilities. There’s no better person to make choices for you than YOU!

You’re on your own. And you know what you know.

And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

Being on the road for work has long been your dream. You love to drive, you’re pretty good at it, and you relish opportunities to see new things and meet new people. Step out of the office and into the world.

It’s opener there

in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen

and frequently do

 to people as brainy

and footsy as you.

You know from experience that when you love your work, you do it better. You care more and you want to be the best you can be. That’s an exhilarating place to be in life.

You’ll be on your way up!

You’ll be seeing great sights!

You’ll join the high fliers

who soar to high heights.

You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed.

You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead.

Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best.

Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.

But still you wait and procrastinate. The longer you take, the harder it becomes to initiate the change you need to begin the career you want.

Waiting for the fish to bite

or waiting for wind to fly a kite

or waiting around for Friday night

or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake

or a pot to boil, or a Better Break

or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants

or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.

Everyone is just waiting.

NO!

That’s not for you!

Eventually, even the worst procrastinators take action because they know time has run out. Now you’re ready to make the leap. And when you do, you’ll find that, wow, life is good!

Somehow you’ll escape

all that waiting and staying.

You’ll find the bright places

where Boom Bands are playing.

With banner flip-flapping,

once more you’ll ride high!

Ready for anything under the sky.

Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

So, don’t wait any longer, create your change today and look forward to a great new career on the road with Indian Trails, driving a beautiful state-of-the-art motorcoach to wonderful destinations.

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting.

So … get on your way!
